Im angelsächsischen Sprachraum wird diese Melodie des öfteren mit weltlichen Texten kombiniert. Am Beginn des amerikanischen Sezessionskriegs wurde sie auch für ein Lied verwendet, das 1939 zum offiziellen state song des Staates Maryland wurde:
